At Planckendael ZOO makes every effort to ensure that all visitors can enjoy a marvellous day at the ZOO. On that basis, we find it important to make as many places as possible accessible for wheelchair users. With the exception of the “Tree Top Trail” and the “African village” (steep trails), all areas and paths are accessible for wheelchair users.
Free wheelchairs
Planckendael ZOO has several modern wheelchairs at its disposal for you. If you would like to use one of these, we recommend booking one in advance.
Prices
We offer people with a disability a discount on their admission tickets. These tickets are available exclusively at the ticket office on the day of your visit. As we are unable to ensure that the relevant conditions are met for disabled persons (and the persons accompanying them) and students, these tickets cannot be purchased online. For this reason, we grant a discount on the regular price of tickets obtainable at the ticket office.
As our employees are not authorised to assess whether or not a visitor qualifies as a person with a disability, we ask that you present a European Disability Card in your name when paying for your ticket.
Persons with an acknowledged disability can apply for this card at the certifying organisation.
In Belgium, these are the following organisations:

- Vlaams Agentschap voor Personen met een Handicap (VAPH)
- Agence pour une Vie de Qualité (AViQ)
- Service Personne Handicapée Autonomie Recherchée (Phare)

The person accompanying visitors with a disability is also entitled to a discount on admission.
Special tours
Planckendael ZOO is always happy to cater to groups and can offer you a tour of the ZOO Planckendael from A to Z adapted specifically to your group’s mobility level. Please inquire into the possibilities at the ticket office.
Tourism for Autism
As a participant in the Tourism for Autism project, Planckendael ZOO offers persons with autism a visual step-by-step itinerary (in Dutch) for their visit to the park. This step-by-step itinerary guides you through your visit to the zoo from start to finish. This way, you know exactly what to expect from a day at the zoo!
Toilets and first aid
The park has seven toilet blocks, all of which are accessible to wheelchair users (see park map). There is a fully equipped first-aid station by our main entrance. We are here to help you. Please note that the toilets are not equipped with a hoisting mechanism.
Restaurants
Our restaurants are also wheelchair accessible, for both individual visitors and groups.

There are 25 parking spaces for visitors with a disability near the main entrance. There are also adapted parking spaces in car park 2.
